Want quiet, efficient cooling in summer and real heat in winter, without tearing open walls for ductwork? A ductless mini split is often the best fit for New York homes. Liberty HVAC installs single-zone and multi-zone mini split systems in houses, apartments, condos and small offices across Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, Manhattan, Nassau and Westchester.

What is a ductless mini split?

A mini split has an outdoor unit (the condenser/heat pump) and one or more indoor units mounted on the wall, ceiling or floor. A small refrigerant line connects them through a hole about 3 inches wide. There are no ducts, so installation is clean and fast compared with a central system. Every indoor unit has its own remote or app control, so each room can be set to its own temperature.

  • Single-zone: one outdoor unit and one indoor unit. Great for a bedroom, living room, home office, attic or addition.
  • Multi-zone: one outdoor unit powers 2 to 5+ indoor units. Ideal for a whole apartment or house without ducts.

Why NYC homeowners choose mini splits

  • Cooling and heating in one system. Modern mini splits are heat pumps, so they also heat your home in winter.
  • No ductwork needed. Perfect for brownstones, pre-war apartments, older houses and rooms the boiler doesn't reach.
  • Lower energy use than window units and old through-the-wall ACs.
  • Quiet operation. Indoor units run with a low hum.
  • Your windows back. No more heavy window units to install and remove every year.

What's included in our installation

  • In-home assessment and room-by-room sizing
  • Help choosing the right system and indoor unit style (wall, ceiling cassette, floor or concealed duct)
  • Placement planning for the outdoor unit: ground, wall bracket, roof or balcony
  • Line set, drain and electrical connection
  • Vacuum, pressure test and start-up check
  • A walkthrough of the remote, the app and filter cleaning

We install leading brands, including Mitsubishi, Daikin, LG, Samsung, Hisense, Fujitsu, Gree and Panasonic. We are an Official ACiQ Dealer and install ACiQ mini split systems.

FAQ

Can a mini split heat my home in winter? Yes. Mini splits are heat pumps and provide both heating and cooling. Many models are designed to keep heating in cold weather. We'll recommend a model that fits your home and how you plan to use it.

How many indoor units do I need? Usually one per room or open area you want to control. We size each zone during the free estimate.

Will installation damage my walls? No major work is needed. We drill one small hole per indoor unit for the line set and seal it neatly.

I live in a co-op or condo. Can I still get a mini split? Often, yes. Buildings have different rules for outdoor units, so check with your management. We'll go over placement options during the estimate.
